Territory Day is on the horizon. It’s time for Territorians to come together and celebrate the people, places and experiences that make the NT unlike anywhere else. This year’s theme, “Our Territory. Our Day.”, reflects the strong sense of community and shared identity across the NT.
On 1 July, celebrations will culminate in spectacular fireworks displays across 21 locations, marking the 1978 moment when the Territory gained self-government. In Darwin, festivities begin at Mindil Beach from 4pm with family activities, live entertainment and a stunning fireworks show over the water.
Iconic rockstar Jon Stevens, frontman behind Noiseworks and INXS’ biggest touring years, will take to the stage along with Territory punk rock trio TANG and Arnham Land’s Wildfire Manwurrk. Alice Springs, Katherine and Tennant Creek will also each host vibrant programs featuring music, local talent and family friendly experiences.
Jon shared his excitement to return to the Territory, saying: “Looking forward to heading back to the Top End to play for you all as part of the Territory Day celebrations in Darwin. We'll be delivering a relentless set of back-to-back hits with Jon Stevens - The Noiseworks & INXS Collection. Make sure you join us for an epic night of rock and roll!
This Territory Day also marks the 100-year anniversary of Katherine. To celebrate, Katherine Showgrounds will light up with live performances as multiple Golden Guitar winner Tom Curtain, 2024 Australian Idol winner Dylan Wright and indie‑pop singer‑songwriter Jem Casser‑Daley take to the stage.
Meanwhile, Alice Springs will boast performances from acclaimed Noongar artist Bumpy and Tanzanian‑born Katanga Junior.
