Tourism & Events NT are providing a total of up to $45,000 (excluding GST) in consultancy support through the Aboriginal Tourism Conceptual Exploration and Planning for Wellness, Food and Drink Program. The program supports Traditional Owners, Aboriginal Territorians, and majority Aboriginal-owned businesses and organisations to develop innovative tourism experiences and strengthen existing Aboriginal tourism products focused on wellness, food and drink.

Eligible activities: Activities that support Traditional Owners, Aboriginal Territorians, and majority Aboriginal-owned businesses and organisations to explore, plan, develop and strengthen Aboriginal cultural tourism experiences focused on wellness, food and drink.

Ineligible activities: 

  • Requested activities that have commenced before the Aboriginal tourism client is approved by the Tourism & Events NT.
  •  Activities that do not clearly demonstrate that an
    Aboriginal cultural experience or tourism product are being developed or delivered.
  • Activities mostly for community use or where there is no clearly defined visitor benefit.
  • Administrative or running costs that are normally the responsibility of a business (e.g. rent,insurances, audit and finance costs etc) state or
    territory administrative or local council fees.
  •  Marketing, advertising and product promotion activities.
  • Wages or salaries for an applicant’s employees and professional services to support operational activities.
  • Activities where the status of required approvals, permits or permissions for tourism product activation is unknown or unclear.
  • Activities that have already received significant funding support from NT Government and are considered to not be competitive or sustainable.
  • Hospitality expenses exclude alcoholic beverages.
  • Individuals or group consultation sitting/engagement fees.

For each approved tourism client, the program will provide:

Stage 1 – Face to Face onsite (community or other suitable identified location) workshop delivery with considerations:

Stage 2 - Action plan development 

Stage 3 – Action plan implementation support

Indicative dates

  • Applications will open on 24 August 2026
     
  • Applications will close on 12 March 2027
    or until project funds are exhausted the contract is proposed to commence 24 August 2026 and conclude 15 May 2027
